YESTERDAY'S MEETING

The Christchurch Tramway Bonn] met yesterday; present—Messrs Ci. T. Booth (chairman), W. Reece, 11. learce, D. Svkes, C. M. Gray, b. A. Staples, A. W. Heaven and J. A. Jleshor. THE ROLLS. Tho main rolls of the various subdistricts were certified as correct, and authority was given to sign them. It was stated that the supplementary rolls would close oil June 11, and tho election of members would take place on July 27. CORIIESPONDEN CE. The Minister of Railways wrote, stating that ho would go into tho Board s request that the charge for the wages of signalmen at railway crossings should be remitted. Tho chairman remarked that the reply seemed to indicate a more open mind on the new Minister's part, than was discernible on the part of his officers. . . The Sydenham Burgesses Association wrote, stating that tho Heathcote County Council was prepared to pay a third 'of the cost of a tram shelter and public convenience at Cashmere Hills if the City Council and Tramway Board would contribute two-thirds. •It was resolved that tho Board s financial position would not enable it to erect any publio conveniences at the point named. The fiumner Borough Council wrote, asking the Board to have the tramway poles in Nay land Street painted white for seven feet from the ground, as they stpod on the footpath and were not easily seen at night. It waiK decided to accede to the request when the poles at Sumner were being repainted.
