An extraordinary story is told in connection with a tragedy at Glebe. A young woman named Clarice Barker was wa'king home at Glebe in company with Will'am Gilchrist when two men accosted them. One of them asked Gilchrist: "What are yon doing with my wife?" Gilchrist replied that he did not Know she was married. Mrs Marker went on with the strangers and Gilchrist watched them stop outside a

vacant allotment. The woman later climbed tho fence and walked off in tho darkness. A few minutes afterwards one of the men followed her and quickly reappeared. He spoke to his companion and both huTried away. Gilch'ist went in search of Mrs Barker and found her dead body at the bottom of a dry stormwater channel. Tho on'y mark of violence was a fractured wrist.
