Reports were received from the "Water lLiw Committees, from which it appeared that difficulties were being experienced in keeping some of the races' full, owing to willows blocking some, plantations interfering with others, and persons tampering with tho flow at the headworks. It was resolved to strike a general rate of a farthing for tho current year. .An application from tho Temuka Technical Classes Association for a contribution was declined, hut the following grants to libraries were made: Geraldine £3, Temuka £3, "Winchester £2 10s. Tho clerk reported that he liad received accounts for £97 16s 9d in connection with the Licensing Committee election. This worked out at 3s 2jd for each vote recorded, and there was only one licensed house within the County." It was decided to ascertain what "other places were doing with regard to such charges.
