A Seriocs Charge.—Ernest Henry Righton was remanded to appear tomorrow on a charge of having indecently assaulted a girl thirteen years of age. Bail was allowed, accused in £IOO and one surety of £IOO. . -n Errixo' Cyclists.—.Frederick Beattie and Connie Stono wero each fined 7s and costs 7s for having ridden cycles on the footpath. "Without Lights.—William Harris, Abraham Warren, Hans Shaw and Thomas Belwortby, for having ridden cycles an hour after sunset without, lights attached, were each fined 10s and costs 7s.—A similar charge against Charlos Bloon was dismissed. Tke Grossing.—John Walter Beanland, for having motored too fast over a street crossing, 'was fined 10s and costs 7s. Deserti-.d Cabs.—William Horner did not appear on a charge of having left a taxicab unattended in a public place. Sub-Inspector M'Grath said that the defendant was a careful driver, but that taxicab drivers were under the impression that they could leave their, cabs on a stand -unattended. The case had been brought to obtain a ruling from a Magistrate that leaving a cab on a stand constituted a breach of the by-laws. A conviction was entered.— John Howard, for a similar offence with respect to a horse cab, was fined 10s and costs 7s.—John Tr en grove was fined os and costs, and John Guy was convicted on similar charges. ITxregistered.—John Papps, for not carrying a registration number on his motor-cycle, was fined fis and costs 7s. Territorial Troubles. Reginald Bradley was fined 10s and costs for having failed to take the oath of allegiance required bv the Defence Act, the fine to be reducible to os if the oath wore taken within a week. Alleged Profanity.—Mary Little and Frank Duffy (Mr Leathern) wero charged with haying on March !28 used obscene language. After hearing evidence, the Magistrate dismissed the charge. Industrial Breaches.—James B. Robertson was f.harged on the information of the Inspector of Factories with having failed to close his butcher's shop at 6 p.m., the hour prescribed by the Act. A flue of 10s and costs was imposed. Arthur Frank Quicke for a similar offenco with respect to his boot shop was fined 10s and costs. TrimiNC'V. —David Irving, on each of two charges of having failed to send his two children to school regularly, was fined 2s and costs. 7s.—W. Watson, for a similar offence, was fined 2s and costs, 7s. Similar charges against William Crotliers (two charges) and Arthur DOrange, were adjourned for a month and charges against William Monroe, Nellie Pimm and R. Webber were withdrawn. Summary Separation.—Joseph Stinear appeared t-o defend an application by his wife for a. separation order on the ground of failure to maintain. After hearing evidence the Magistrate grouted the separation order and issued a prohibition order against the defendant. No order was made for maintenance. Mr Rowe appeared for the complainant. .
