PERSONAL.
Mr James Hugh Williams was admitted as a barrister by Mr Justice Denniston this morning on the motion of Mr Meares. Arrivals in town include the following:—Captain B. Head (London), Messrs H. L. Tapley (Ihntedin). IT. M. Hayward (Wellington), A. Christie (Ashburton), D. Robertson (Wellington), R. A. Wilson (Wellington) and W. H. Baker (Sydney). Mr T. Elliott, who has been ganger of the surface men on the Rangiora section of tho railway line for several years, has been promoted to the charge of the permanent way in tho Auckland station yard. Last evening his fellow employees said good-bye to him at tho Rangiora station, and presented him with a travelling bag and a gold brooch for Mrs Elliott
