THE MARYS' GIFT.
Queen Mary has decided to devoto the Coronation gift to her from the Marys of th e Empire to a holiday home for working girls in connection with the London Girls' Club Union, of which her Majesty is patroness. For this purpose Barn 'House, Whitstable, Kent, has been acquired by trustees, and will be opened in the spring. Nominations to this home will be vested in a committee, the members of which will be connected with the Club Union. It may be recalled that at the time of the presentation to the Queen of the sum raised, it was only at the earnest solicitation of the committee that her Majesty consented to a portion of the money being devoted to a personal offering. This took the form of the insignia of tho Order of the Garter, set in diamonds, and portraits of the King and the Prince of Wales. It was authoritatively stated that the Queen would apply the balance to " an object very dear to her heart." All preliminaries having now been successfully arranged, her Majesty has now allowed the announcement to be made.
