THE MAYORALTY.

ME. H. HOLLAND IN THE FIELD. ■Mr Henry Holland, a councillor for the Central "Ward of the city, has acceded to the request of a very large deputation that he should be a candidate for the Mayoralty next month. Asked for an outline of his policy, Mr Holland said: "I favour a cautious progressive policy, and I am a strong advocate for the amalgamation of local bodies. I believe that a model city is built up by a largo number of small details rather than by a largo revolutionary scheme of reform. I am convinced that the time is ripe for a town hall, but 1 will take an early opportunity of placing liiv viows before the electors.''
