FIRES.

At 2.10 this morning the Lyttelt.on Fire Brigade turned out to an alarm of file, and discovered the outbreak in a house in Canterbury Street. Lyttelton, occupied by J. Mukpieen. The mattress and bedding were in flames, but wore soon extinguished. An hour later flames broke out again, in another part of tho dwelling, a fonrroonied cottage, and before the brigade reached the scene the fire had a firm hold. The hou.se was practically destroyed. It was owned hy Air 11. Gallagher, but the insurances are notknown.
