[Pjcr Press Association.] Wtil/LIXGTON, November 8. _At the New Zealand competitions the Victoria College team won the impromptu debate, and Miss Simpson the fluta solo, the judge giving her high praise. Tho choral contest began with three loeel choirs. Tiie winners announced of special prizes which, including an 80 guinea piano, amounted to over £250, are:— Champion medals, singing, won by Miss Knight and Mr .Farrow (Auckland); elocution, Miss Priohard (Melbourne) and Mr, Osborne (Dunedin). Miss Prichard also carried off four other special prizes. Miss Paccy (Dunedin) secured prizes for host pronunciation and enunciation, both m music and elocution, and tied with Mr Blanford (Wellington) for the most versatile performer, and with Miss Knight for highest marks in solo singing, and took tho prize for tho self-accompanied song. Miss Grant (Christchnrch) secured the prize for the highest marks in singing for vocalists who have not received a fee. Miss Brewins (Christchnrch) got a camera for the most promising elocutionist under sixteen, and Mr Casey (Ohakunc) tlie cup for tho best debater. Nearly all the special prizes wont to performers from outside Wellington.
