A Driver, Drunk.—For having been drunk whilst in charge of t\vo worses and carts, Thomas Hakopa Avas fined 10s, in default forty-eight hours' imprisonment. A Broken Coder.—-William Cashioa AA r as fined 10s, with the alternative of forty-eight hours' imprisonment, for tho .first breach of a prohibition order. Through Drink.—William Webb pleaded guilty to charges of drunk* enness, liaving; used ' obscene lan* guago, and having refused to quit the bar of the Crown Hotel when request* ed to do so by the licensee. Sub-In* spector M'Gratli said that the accused " Avent mad" whenever he had drink in him. On the charge of drunkenness the accused was convicted, and fined 10s; on the charge of having used obscene language he Avas fined 40s and, costs, in default one month's imprison-, ment, and on the charge of having refused to quit he vras ordered to pay thg expenses incurred, 4s. Drink and Comphcations.—Jolui Di2{ and Donald Kearney pleaded guilty to having used threatening behaviour in Manchester Street whereby a breach of tho peace had been caused. Evidence Avas given that both the accused had been drunk. Each was fined £l, in default seven days' imprisonment. Vagrancy.—.Matthew ' Murray wag charged Avith being a rogue and vagiw bond in that he had been found by night upon the enclosed premises ox Jane Hatch. The accused elected to b« tried by a jury. Sub-Inspector M'Grath requested that the charge should _ be amended to one of having insirfflcienil laivful visible means of support so as t<j| avoid the necessity of having to empanel a jury. Unruly Beh.wioch.—Herbert and; Pcarce Ford pleaded not guilty to A charge of having behaved in a threat* ening niannor whereby a breach of thej peace had been caused. After hearing evidence the Magistrate inflicted'a nn<s of or on each of the accused and order* ed them to pay Gs 6d each as costs. Maintenance. Kenneth Minahfltf w&s remanded to appear on on a, charge of having failed to provide maintenance for his wifo in Welling-* ton. The defendant was released on; his own recognisance of £2s.—ln tho case of John Frederick Bethke, appli" cation for the variation of a maintenance order requiring him to contribute to his wife's support at the rate of 17*.
