At a special meeting of the New Zealand Trotting Association tnis morning, a deputation from tho Kaikoura Itr.cing Cl'ftb wns received. Tliree years ago tho two trotting events on the club's programme were cancelled by the Association, and this deputation asked that the two events should be reinstated. The club had since lost its totalisator permit under the reductions made by tho Racing Commission, but intends to proceed with its annual meeting' without a permit. Tho deputation represented that there was no trotting within many miles of Kaikoura, although there was a Btrong interest in the sport of trotting there. The club was now under entirely new management, and all tho old officinls had been replaced by new ones. After discussion it was resolved that, silbject to tho passing of the galloping programme by the Canterbury Jockey Club, tho two trotting events would bo approved by the Association. It was also decided to recommend to the Kaikoura Club that one of t.ho trotting events should be for pure-gaited trotters.
