The wluwf labourers' meeting was extremely noisy, a section of young .men howling down speakers proposing resumption. The deep-sea men predominated. They decided to. accept Mr Carmichaol's advice. Mr Carmiohael, in his address, declared that a continuance of the strike would moan a blow !to unionism and possibly a death-blow .to the Labour Government. The vote [resulted in a majority of approxiinatetly aix to 00.0 favouring a return to | Work. j The shipowners express satisfaction, llrat state that they fail to see wh.it are Ijfrhe grounds for arbitration, as an ragreement ia already in existence and ['conditions are not diffyrant from those Existing when it was entered upon.
