NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL. A meeting of the committee of the New Zealand Boxing Council on Thursday evening, Mr J. R. Evans presiding. The Tnnaru Association wrote asking tho Council to endorse the suspension lor twelve months of a person who was identified with tho sport in Timaru and who had pleaded guilty to a charge of threatening bohaviour. The request was agreed to. , The Nelson Association wrote agreeing to tho northern boundaries suggested for the Bullor Centre. The Northern Association in reply to correspondence from the Council on the matter of tho false report concerning the Council which had appeared in the Auckland ''Star" of August 10, wrote that no member of the Association's committee had been responsible for the report. The Timaru Association wrote for permission to match C. Herbert, of Oarnaru, against tho winner of the Ryan-Mitchell contest, which will take place in Christcliuroh on November 10, tho match to be for the heavy-weight championship, and to take place in Timaru on November 22. The application was granted.

Correspondence was received from the Hawko's Bay Centre announcing the suspension of two competitors and two seconds who had taken part iu the Hawko's Bay Association, competition on October 11 and 12. The competitors Jiad refused to compete when called upon, and tho seconds had been guilty of misconduct.

It was decided to endorse the suspensions on receipt of information that the rule relating to suspensions had been complied with. The Westport Association wrote requesting to be re-classified in connection with tho rule relating to the annual subscriptions payable to tho Council. It was agreed to place the Association in the lowest scale.

The Hawko's Bay Centre wrote, with respect to an exhibition by juveniles at Napier. The Centre had refused the Nanior Association permission to include the event on its programme, but the Association had ignored the veto owing to receipt of a communication from tho Council secretary that there was no rule prohibiting exhibitions of tho kind. The Council secretary read the telegrams which had passed between himself and the Napier Association on the matter. Tolcgrams to and from tho Hawko's Bay Centre were also read.

The chairman said that tho Council secretary had despatched a statement of fact, and not an official decision. In view of tho veto by the Hawke's Bay Centre, the Napier Association should have forwarded a statement of the exact position. Had. that been done, there _ would, have been no misunderstanding. In view of what had taken place, he thought that the Counoil should express an opinion on the question of exhibitions by juveniles. It was agreed that, the question of publio exhibitions by juveniles was ono for local consideration, and that the Hawke's Bay Centre had aoted within its powers in requesting the Napier Association not to hold cm exhibition of the kind in connection with its competition on October 27.
