The chief feature was the proposed new taxation by which he expects to receive £200,000 from probate and stamp duties, and <2775,000 from income tax. The total revenue last year was £13,882,485, whioh was £475,224 in. excess of tho #stima,te. The expenditure was £14,470,687, or £169,000 in excess of the estimate. The year opened with « u . credit of £989,706, arid closed with a credit of £401,505. Tho public debt jlb £95,523,945, the increase for the ; year being £2,998,830. Railways and tramways earned at the rate of £4 110s lid per cent, the surplus, after pay. ,ing expenses and interest, being 1 £601,625. Tho total trade of the State amounted to £86,G00,000, an increase of £6,000,000 on the previous year. The total production was £82,812,000. The wheat yield was I twenty-eight million bushels. The estimated revenue for the current year, including new taxation, is £15,846,085, iund the expenditure £15,822,844.
