ANGLICAN CATHEDRAL.

DEDICATION SERVICES,

The dedication service# of the thirtieth amiiversary of the Anglican Cathedral wore celebrated yesterday in the presence of large congregations. Holy Communion was celebrated at 7 a.m. and matins at 11. At 8 p.m. evensong was held, and there was a good congregation. The lessons were read by the Rev W. S. Bean and the Rev J. H. Rogers. Bishop Julius preached a telling sermon from Acts iv., 32, and referred to tho great spiritual gifts possessed by the founders of the Church. Those gifts, he said, wore held in common, and no man laid claim to having any possessions, hut all gave freely of their wealth to their fellows. There was a great ideal and a great lesson behind that example. The people of to-day hardly realised that they had through all the Christian ages been given a heritage of spiritual wealth that had cost their forefathers much to bequeath. Less still did they realise that they had been given those ypfts that they might share them in common with their fellows. He paid a high tribute to the men who had founcVd at great personal self-sacrifice the Church in Now Zealand, and especially to Bishop Harper, to whom alt owed a debt they knew not- how great. In conclusion the Bishop urged his hearers to use tho gifts that had been given them by God in helping their fellows to a realisation of the'Christin n life. The processional hymn " For All the Saints" was sung at the commencement of tho service.
