FRUITGROWERS' CONFERENCE

[Per Pbkss Association.] MQTUEKA, November 2. The Fruitgrowers' Conference last evening resolved that the Fruitgrowers' Associations of the dominion should federate, and that the Hawke's Bay executive should continue to act as the Federation executive. Other resolutions passed were that the Government should again be urged to inaugurate a system of through booking; that in view of tho near depletion of suitable wood the Government should be asked to plant waste Crown lands by means of prison labour with trees suitable for fruit cases and butter boxes; and that the Government should be urged to consider the question of restricting instead of enforcing tho devastation of forests in connection with land settlement., to conservo tho timber supplies. A motion in favour of Government assistance for cool stores at the centres of production, tho Associations paying interest and sinking funds, was carried, as was also a motion that tho Government should be urged to rigidly enforce the law regarding diseased trees being sent out from nurseries.
