NEW SOUTH WALES. TO-DAY'S BY-ELECTIONS. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received August 1(5, 9.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, August 16. In connection with the by-elections for the Mudgee and Liverpool Plains seats, caused by the resignations of the sitting Labour representatives, Messrs W. Dunn and H. E. Home, which will take place to-day, both sides express confidence in their ability to win. Hie contests have been conducted with extreme vigour and considerable bitterness, nnd from the outset it was made clear that both pnrties had determined to make it a fight to a finish. The Labour candidates for the two vacant seats aro Mr Dunn, the former member, for Mudgee, and Mr W. O. Ashford. formerly member for Upper Hunter. for Liverpool Plains, while the AVadeite candidates are Mr Owen Gilbert, formerly member for Newcastle, and Mr John Perry, formerly member for Richmond. Labour's chances of winning one, if not both, seats are probably the better.
