AN ELECTION SKIRMISH. United Press Association —By Electrio Telegraph—CopyTieht. (Received August 15, 12.40 p.m.) VANCOUVER, August 14. M. Lemieux, the Canadian Post-master-General, met M. Bourassa, the French Canadian leader, at St Hyacinth, the first big political gathering of the campaign. M. Lemieux was accused by M. Bourassa of being an office-seeker, and with having sought tho Speakership of the House of Commons while apparently fighting for a principle only. A disturbance promptly broke out and the platform was partly destroyed. M. Lemieux admitted the allegation with regard to the Speakerchip, but denied .the other charges, and in his turn accused Sir W r ilfrid Laurier with having betrayed the French Canadians by his naval policy.
