CRECHE AND KINDERGARTEN ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of ladies interested in the Creche and Kindergarten Association was held in the Sunbeam Schoolroom, Cornwall Street, St Albans, on Friday, to consider proposals to collect funds and re-open the school. There was a large attendance, and the Rev P. C. Raggit presided. He described the steps necessary to secure the re-open-ing of the school and spoke in glowing terms of the late lady principal, Miss Scofield. and the splendid method. of the kindergarten system. Mrs Chilton also spoke at some length, saying that the kindergarten was a boon to mothers of families and tended to mould the children's minds iiieraUr and mentally, and equipped them to continue their studies when their age permitted. A committee was formed to 'make arrangements, if possible, for re-opening the school. If sufficient inducement is 'forthcoming, the Association proposes to reopen the school about September ].■">. A systematic canvass of the district will be made by the committee.
