Before the Labour Commission, Mr Goote, a manufacturing jeweller, stated that he turned down a thousand pounds of orders weekly owing to inability to obtain sufficient labour. Recently- he sent an order to England for forty men. The demand for engagement and wedding rings was very brisk at present.
