SCHOOL INSPECTORS.
MR. T. S. FOSTER APPOINTED CHI El''. Following the practice in other centres th<T North Canterbury Board ol' Education has decided to appoint a chief inspector of schools, and Mr T. S. Foster, one of the present threo senior inspectors, has been appointed to the position. The salary is £SOO a year, and the duties are somewhat heavier than those of an ordinary inspector, especially in view of the advances made in connection with technical education and other additional work supervised by the Board. Mr Foster took his B.A. degree at Canterbury College in 1881, gaining first-class honours in languages and literature, and his M.A. in 1882. He has bad a distinguished enroor as a teacher in North Cantorhurv, and held positions at the Addington" Church School, and the West Christchnrch School and the Boys' High School. Subsequently he was headmaster at "West Christ-church. Six or seven years ago he was appointed inspector to the Board, and in that position has earned groat popularity, especially with the .school children.
