RAILWAY EXTENSION LEAGUE
CULVERDEN TO AV.VTAU. A meeting of the committee oi the Culvei'den-Rolhei'ham-V aiau Railway Extension League was held on Wednesday, Mr I?. Pettigrew presiding over a good attendance of members. The Hon D. Buddo telegraphed stating liis intention of visiting the district on Monday, June 14. It was decided to drive the Minister round the district and to entertair him at the hall in the evening, when he would bo invited to speak. A sub-committee was appointed to make necessary arrangements. The Hon R. M'Kenzie telegraphed regretting his inability to inspect tlu route of the railway owing to pressure of time, during his present trip to the South Island. Replies in regard to the conference between Canterbury members of Parliament- were received from the members. and a deputation was appointed to wait on them. Twenty-five new members were elected, bringing tho total membership to 203. Mr W. Gale was elected to the committee. Accounts for £1 10s were passed for payment.
