GREAT FIRE, CAR COLLISION AND STRIKES. United Press Association —By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright. (Received May 2, 2.30 p.m.) VANCOUVER, May 1. A fire at Bangor, Maine, caused a million dollars worth of damage. Two people are known to have been killed and several 'firemen are missing. Fifty people were injured. Thousands of persons are homeless. Fifteen persons were injured, five fatally, in a street car collision at Chicago. Five hundred carpenters are striking Los Angeles, 10,000 shopmen at Pittsburg, 'IOOO carters at Havana (Cuba) and 9000 machinists in New York. - The bridge and structural iron work- ' at Toronto are on striko.
