TECHNICAL COLLEGE.
BOARD OF GOVERNORS. The Board of Governors of th« Christchurch Technical College- met last evening; presetit—the Mayor (Mr 0. Allison) in the chair, and Messrs W. F. Cooper, W. H. Cooper, R. P. England, T. Gapes, T. S. Foster, M. < Murphy, C. H. Opie. G. W. J. Parsons, A. Peppier, E. W. Relph, H. R. Rusbridge, J. B. Scoble, G. Scott, H. B. Sorensen, A. Williams, M'Gregor Wright and the Director (Mr J. H. Howell). , The Appointments Committee reported that Miss Slocombe had been appointed temporary assistant mistress at £3 10s per week, Miss Maxwell assis : tant instructor in dressmaking, millinery and needlework aij 3s 6d per hour, and Mr J. Woolcock instructor in typography. The committee recommended that the Director should be authorised to engage an office assistant at 15s per, week part time, or 20s whole time; that Mr Stanley Cross should be appointed instructor jin engineering; that Miss M. E. Clarke, M.A., should be appointed assistant mistress, and that Mr Kershaw, the instructor in plumbing, should receive 7b per hour. The report was adopted. The financial statement showed a debit for January of £2BB 16s 4d. Accounts for £B9 6s had been passed, and payment of accounts for £154 9s lid was recommended. It was suggested ■ that a sum of £26 should be granted for books for necessitous'pupils. The credit balance for 1910-had been £471 14s 2d. The report was adopted. " v The Sheepowners' Union voted £6O for shearing classes at Timaru or Te--muka, and thanked' the Board for the excellence of the shearing and woolclassing classes. ■ ".. It was decided to thank the Union, and to inform ' it that a Technical School was established in Timaru. Contributions of £5 and £1 Is from the Typographical Union for examination prizes were received with thanks, and ref erred to the Appointments Committee. ' Tho report of the Director and the. chairman s statement, dealing with, routine matters* were received and adopted.
