THE TERRA NOVA.
CAPTAIN SCOTT'S DEPARTURE,
LEFT FOR PORT CHALMERS THIS MORNING.
Captain Scott and Mrs Scott and Dr Wiison and. Mrs Wilson, left for the south by tho first express this morning. The commander of the expedition and his wife will leave tho train at Port Chalmers, where they will be met by Mrs W. A. Moore. After visiting the Terra Nova, they will go in M.rs Moore's motor-car to her residence at Mornington, and will be her guests while'they aro in tho south. Dr Wilson and Mrs Wilson will go straight on to Dunedin. The party will be entertained at dinner at Mrs Moore's this evening, and will attend a ball which will be given by Mrs Edmonds to Captain Scott and his officers and the members of his scientific staff. This will bo the la&t function before the Terra Nova finally departs from New Zealand to-morrow afternoon. Mrs Scott will roturn to Christchurch by the first express on Thursday, and* will catch the Ulimaroa at Lyttelton tho same evening. She will go to Sydney, where she will be the guest of Lady Poore until she leaves Australia in the Morea on December 17. She intends to leave the vessel at Port Said, and, after spending a fortnight in Egypt, will continue her journey in the Slooltain to London. As far as her present intentions are concerned she does not expect to return to New Zealand as the date of the return of tho expedition is very uncertain.
Mrs Wilson will return to Canterbury on Wednesday, and will speiftl some time amongst friends here before leaving for England. Mr G. F. W.vatt, London manager of the expedition, who is on the Terra Nova now, will return to Ghristchurch on Wednesday, and with Mrs Wyatt will go in the Ulimaroa to Sydney, and will visit Japan and India before going to London.
