ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES

About 4.45 yesterday afternoon Miss Bertha Jane Hindi, daughter of Mr and Mrs Hindi, Hannaton, nineteen years of age, met Jier death through being thrown from a bolting horse. It appears that the young lady, who had been at a ploughing match, left the- ground so6n after four in company with a Waimato young man named Colin Cameron. She had a bicycle and he had a horse. When on the main Nukuroa Road, near Cunningham's the young people exchanged mounts, the lady getting up and sitting side-saddle on the horse. The animal took alarm and bolted. Driving home from Ashburton to Ashton last evening. William Taylor was thrown from a gig, and sustained a. broken leg. He was taken to the hospital, and is now progressing favourably.
