EDUCATION CONFERENCE.
[Per Press Assor.i.vni,-\l WELLINGTON, -August 23. ■ The Conference of delegates from the Education Boards throughput the dominion met this morning. The Conference has been convened by the Wangaliui Board, after consultation with other Boards.
Ml" i ( . P lrani, representing Wanganui, was elected chairman. The chairman explained that the Wanganui Board had moved in the matter because the Minister of Education had not stated his intention of calling delegates together this year. Referring to tho proposed abolition of Education Boards, Mr Pirani eaid he thought a conference was necessary, if only for the purpose of giving them an opportunity of singing a tangji over their own funeral. An ordey paper containing seventy or inore remits, was divided into> four sections, and committees were set up, one to each section, to discuss and repoi"t to the Conference to-morrow. By this means it is expected the business will be completed in two days. The Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, telegraphed a cordial welcome and best wishes.
Mr Fowlds will be asked to attend tho deliberations of the Conference.
