1 MEMORIALS IN BRITAIN. United. Press Association —By Electric ' Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, August 3. Mr Asquith, in a letter to the Lord Mayor of London, stated that the Government had considered various schemes to commemorate King Edward. The Government was of opinion that local memorials were more Buitahle than a national memorial, each county and large city deciding the type of memorial according to local conditions. Mr Asquith suggested that the Lord Mayor should inaugurate a London memorial. The Lord Mayor Vi&s complied with the suggestion.
