AMUSEMENTS.

THEATRE ROYAL. Messrs Clarke and Meynell's dramatic company gave its farewell performance of " The Hypocrites'' at the Tlioatre Royal last evening. A very large number of people took the last Opportunity of seeing Mr H. R. Roberts and Miss Beatrice Day, and the piece was most successfully presented, the two principal members or the company being enthusiastically applauded at the close of the third act. The company will play a short sea-son in Timaru, leaving Christ church today. FULLER'S PICTURES. A large audience was attracted i-0 the Colosseum last when the week's programme of Fuller's Pictures was. successfully shown for the last time. At the performances this afternoon and evening a _ new programme will be shewn. It will include a film illustrating the raising of the submarine Pluvoise, which was sunk in the English Channel by a collision with a passenger steamer. , Other scenic pictures will illustrate the _ Lacliine Rapids, the Island of Capri, and Ascot Sunday at Boulter's Lock, and the programme will also include " The Gold Seekers," "Isabella of Aragon " ''lndian Blood," and "The Road Agents."

OPERA HOUSE. The Opera House was well attended last evening, when the current week s programme of the Empire Picturevaudeville Company was presented for the last time. This evening an entire chango of programme will be given, including variety turns by Karle's performing dogs and Fitz, the educated pony, new songs by Madama Blanch© Carclli, Miss Pearl Hellmrich, Miss Beattie M'Donald and the Royal Sisters, and impersonations of celebrated artists by Mr Cardeu Wilson. New pictures, including the dramatic films "' The Master Mechanic " and " Father and Son," and the comedy series, " The Ranger's Bride" and "The Smoked Husband " will also be shown.

HTS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. The benefit performance given by the Haytvard Proprietary at His Majesty's Theatre' last evening in aid of tho funds of the Canterbury Ladies' Hockey Association was well attended, and tho programme of moving pictures and chronomegaphone items was heartily applauded. This evening a new programme will be presented, including the first instalment of the Pathe innovation. "The Animated Gazette," which illustrates recont world events week by week. Tho chronomegaphone will reproduce Harry Lauder singing "Early in the Morning" and "Tobermory." Among tho new picturen will be 11 Hunting Wolves in Russia," ■ The Lachino Rapids" (Canada), "The Raising of the 'French Submarine," " The Gold Seekers," "Tho Bride of tho Haunted On-stle," and " The Hand of Fate."
