CANADIAN RAILWAYS. GRAND TRUNK STRIKE SETTLED. United Press' Associn tion~By Electric '.lclt'gwaph—Copyright. (Received August. 4, 8.35 a.m.) LONDON, August 3. The Canadian Government's intervention has ended the Grand Trunk Railway strike. Tho company will restore tho 'men who were not guilty of violence, and their positions at standardised wages will come into operation in January, 1911. This is a compromise between the men's demand for tho immediate raising of wages to the Canadian Pacific level and the company's standardised offer for 1913.
LOCK-OUT IN HOLLAND. . (Received August 4, 9.5 a.m.) LONDON, August 3. There is a complete lock-out in tho cotton industry in Holland, and 8000 hands are affected.
ARBITRATION IN AUSTRALIA. AN UNPOPULAR BOARD MEMBER. (Received August 4, 9. a.m.) SYDNEY, August 4. The Seaham Miners' Lodge, to which Mr Paterson belongs, refuses to hear the revelations he has promised. He must mako his statement to the Board.
PAPAROA MINE. [Per Pbess Assgciatiox.] GREYMOUTH, August 4. There has' been no fresh development at the Paparoa mine, which is still idle. The Union has not yet replied to the manager's last letter.
