Owen, J.P.), On the Forbidden Path.—For having ridden bicycles on footpaths, Norman Young, Richard Poekson, Daniel Savage, John M'Kinley, Denne Twyneham, John Saunders and. John It. Saunders, were each lined 7s and costs. —John Breen admitted that ho had ridden a motor-cycle on the cycle track between the Hospital and the lliccarton Hotel, but pleaded that the road> owing to the bad weather, had been impassable. The Bench convicted him and ordered him. to pay 7s costs. Dismissed. Leonard Pearce was charged with having nsed obscene language on Riccarton Road last month. After hearing; a quantity of evidence, the Bench dismissed the case. Damaging a Footpath. Henry George Jones was charged with having driven a cart over a footpath at other than the proper crossing, and with having damaged the footpath. The defendant, said that he understood that the portion he went over was a crossing. Inspector Simpson said that- the ordinary crossing had been blocked and the side channel bridge moved. He did not see Jones actually cross, the path, hut he had seen him on a section, the only entrance to which was over tho path, because the crossing was blocked. The case was dismissed. —Daniel M'Quinn, George Thomas Duke and George Sellwood were similarly charged, and pleaded guilty. They were eacli lined 5s and costs. —A charge against William Morrow was dismissed. Mr Loughnan appeared for the City Council. Sureties of the Peace.—S. G. Unwiu f\{ v "Wimter) complained that Henry Bos (Mr Leathern) had used insulting language to him, and asked for sureties of the peace. Box was bouud over to keep the peace for six months in his own recognisa.nce of £uQ.
