A hundred prisoners, mostly brigands and smugglers, attempted to escape from prison at Tilentisanta", in Portugal. Their comrades outside bribed the gaolers to introduce revolvers, files and dynamite cartridges. An explosion later brought the civil guard to the scene, and a stubborn light ensued. Twenty prisoners were wounded, and nine escaped, but tho rest were recaptured, after the fire hoso had been used upon them.
