ANNUAL MEETING
The North Canterbury branch of the Educational Institute held its n.iin meeting this morning, Mr T. W. Ambrose presiding. The annual report and .balance-sheet wero . the report being adopted on th© motion of Mr Ambrose, seconded by Mr "Watson. Mr Ambrose referred briefly to the relation between the Training College p-nd. Canterbury College, the power of transfer held by the Education Board und the improvements made in 'connection with the Superannuation Act. He thanked the officers and committee for their assistance daring ]hhe year. Mr J. B. Borthwick moved the adoption of the balance-sheet, which showed ft credit of £IOO 19s 3d, and it was adopted. £ne following officers were elected: k —President, Mr L. Watson; vice-pro-»s®nts, Miss A. Spence and Mr J. N. MGregor; treasurer, Mr J. B. Bortliwiok; secretary, Mr J. E. It. Smith; assistant secretary, Mr Maxwell; committee, Misses Menzies, Chapman and Barker, and Messrs J. R. Sinclair, E. U. Just, J. E. Purchase, S. C. Owen. ;f. Waller, D. Sinclair, F. T. Evans, IS. B. Mayne., W. C. Queree, J. J. (Adams, A. 0. Maxwell and T. W. Ambrose,* auditor, Mr J. Voss. ( Forty-two new members were electzed, I Mr T. Hughes wrote resigning his '.position on tlhe Institute owing to his as an inspector. He paid g high tribute to the help the other Ejupbers had Tendered him. j A motion congratulating Mr* 0. D. ardie on his promotion to an inspecrehip was carried unanimously. A vote of thanks to Mr Hughes for t lively interest in. the Institute and (rork for tie teaahers was carried with »pp<h.Tise. votes of thanks-were passed to the-, .ofeoers.
