CHRISTOHUROH. Friday, March 4. (Before Mr T. A. B. Bailey, S.M.) Drcnkknnkss.— A "male first offender was convicted on a charge of drunkenness, and was ordered to pay 17s Ud medical expenses.—Frederick Edwin Gough pleaded guilty to charges of having been drunk and having procured liquor during the currency oi a prohibition order. Ho was convicted on the first charge and fined £1 on the second. —Annie Eraser, with many previous convictions, was declared an nabitual drunkard, and was sent to the Samaritan Home for two years.—-Margaret Marlow pleaded guilty to charges of drunkenness and breach of a prohibition order. Sub-Inspector M'Grath said that the woman was a hopeless case, and she was sent to the Samaritan Home for two years. By-law Casks.—Frank Ludbrook, for having cycled without a light, was lined 10s and costs. —Goorge Gordon, for driving over a crossing at other than a walking pace, was fined 5s and costs. Theft.—Thomas Richard Savage, an elderly man, described by tho sub-in-spector as a heavy drinker, pleaded guilty to charges of having stolen a dish and jug, valued at 5s 6d, aaid a kit, valued at os, from Sydenham. It was stated that he had sold the articles for 2b 3d to buy beer. He was sentenced to se<von days' imprisonment on each charge.

Remanded. Mary Donovan was charged with being an idlo and disorderly person in that she had no visible lawful moans of support. On the amplication of the police she was remanded until Monday.—Mary Lloyd pleaded guilty to a charge of drunkenness and not guilty to a charge of being a common prostitute. A remand until to-morrow was granted. Withdrawn.-—Joseph Fletcher was charged by the Collector of Customs with having netted whitebait in an unlawful manner in the Avon at New Brighton. The "rcseeution asked that the information should be amended, and Mr Dougall, who appeared for several other fishermen similarly charged, objected. It was agreed to withdraw the charges and substitute fresh informations. Dismissed. —Henry Evan Jones (Mr Ouningham) was charged by his wife, Fanny Isabel Jones, with desertion, and she asked for a separation. After hearing the Magistrate declined to entertainthe application. Maintenance. —William Sinclair Bennington was fined 10s for a breach of a maintenance order.
