lion sterling by his "corners" of the ' market. He has announced: "I have made my pile, and intend to enjoy it." Barkett and George Patten, who made four million and one million respectively, are also retiring from the brokerage firm. Senator Gallinger, in introducing a
Bill to incorporate the Rockefeller foundation in the district of Columbia, explained that Rockefeller had already given away fifty-two million dollars, and. sought a method of disposing of his fortune for the benefit of mankind. The foundation's aim was to promote the well-being of the people of the United States and its possessions abroad, the dissemination of knowledge »nd the relief of suffering.
