EAST CHRISTCHURCH SCHOOLS' FAIR.

A meeting of those interested in the approaching fair in connection with the East Ciiristchurcli schools was held last evening at the Gloucester Street School, Mr J. Jamieson presiding over a large attendance. The chairmanr reported that numerous offers of goods had been received, and there was every prospect of a highly successful fair. It was reported that the allocation of the various side shows had been made in the rooms of the school, and arrangements had been made for lighting the outside marquee with gas. The departments had been allotted as follows: —Afternoon tea, Mesdames Andrews (convener), Marshall, Kingsland and Stanton and Misses Aitken, Pirie, Snowball and Thoupson; art gallery, Mr Rowe; bachek&s' and hat-trimming stall, Mr W. Waufkop; book stall, Mr A. C. Maxwell; bsukn tub, Misses O. Parker and N. P&ffker; cake competition, Miss Aitkaa; doll stall, Mi® Gilmo-ur and Mqjdames. Williams and Tireleaven; flottrsr and produce stall, Mesdames Morgan and Parker, Misses Aitken, Parker and Snowball and Messrs J. Jamieson and Baker; hattrimming competition, Miss Lynskey; kinematograph and shooting gallery, Mr A. P. Drayton; sweets and ice cream stall, Misses ..uenzies and Kent and infant school teachers; swimming races, the Bath Committee; variety stall, Mrs Baker and Phillipstown teachers; work and doll stall, Miss Chaplin (convener) and Mesdames Dawson, Jordan, Rowe, Smith and Sugden; children's pets show, Mr Harvey; photographs of classes, Mr Peveril; quoits competition, Mr Smith; "Man from Mars," Mr F. Thompson. An entertainment committee was elected as follows: —Messrs S. C. Owen, W. A. Cookson, A. F. Drayton, G. Hooper, J. S. Kennedy and YtT. Wauchop, Mesdames Morgan and Parker and Misses Menzies and Trevail. It was decided to make the pet show an open event, without entry fee, and to make awards, but give no prizes. The meeting then adjourned for a week.
