WOOLSTON.

The Mayor of Woolstoh, Mr J. Hayes, was 'installed last evening. Councillors W». R. Ross, H. J. F. Taylor, C. E., Radcliffe, WV Woods, G. P. Round, J. W. Thomas, R. Coupland, J. F. Bell and B. McGregor Wright were present. The Mayor and councillors took the oath, and the Mayor said that he hoped that they would be a happy family for the next twelve months, and 1 would look after the interests of the ratepayers who had placed them in their positions on the Council. He hoped, that the councillors would endeavour to make matters easy for him as he would for them. Councillor Woods congratulated the Mayor upon hie election. He said that they were all agreed that the borough of-Woolston was the front door to Christchurch with regard to the canal question, and during the year he was sure they would further the scheme in every possible way. Councillor T. P. Round also congratulated Mr Hayes upon his election, and the Mayor briefly returned thanks. The following committees were appointed :— Finance—- Councillors Wright (chairman), Ross, Thomas and Bell.; Works — Councillors Round (chairman), Coupland, Woods, Radcliffe and Taylor ; By-laws— Councillors Woods (chairma), Ross, Wright, Thomas and Bell; Sanitary—^Councillors Taylor (chairman), Coupland, Round and Radcliffe; . Bath and . Reserves—^Councillors Thomas (chairman), Round, Wright and Woods.
