Some interesting speeches were made, among the speakers being the Hon D. Buddo and Messrs J."'G. Wilson, R. C. Bruce, J. C. Cooper, IT. F. Gibbons, T. Moss, T...E. Hoddar,. J.-.M. Johnston, Captain Hewitt, Captain Preece, and others. In referring to the matter of the Dreadnought, Messrs Wilson, Bruce and others eulogised the action of the Government, and their remarks met with general approval. Mr Buddo then referred to land. tenure, and his remarks regarding the intention of the Government -to provide roads and bridges met with great applause. He then went on to refer to the benefits of the Advances to Settlers Act, which he declared had done much to tide over the recent financial stringency, and also spoke of ' the. universal appreciation expressed by Farmers' Unions throughout the do- 1 ' minion regarding Sir Joseph Ward's Dreadnought offer.
