THE AMERICAN SITUATION. (Received April 10, 8.53 a.m.) NEW YORE', April 9. " May deliveries of wheat were sold at one dollar 23J cents. The profit made by Mr Patten, the speculator, is estimated at £^50,000. . [From Our Correspondent .] ■ ASHBURTON, April 10. Thj* news of the upward tendency 'of the Home wheat market, appearing in this morning's papers, has been received very favourably by the farming community in the county,, as there are exceptionally heavy stocks held in anticipation of a rise. A farmer here has been offered 3s lOd per bushel for a fine sample of Velvet chaff.
