THE WEST COAST SOUNDS.
[Pek Press Association.] DUNEDIN, February 2
The Hon Thomas Mackenzie reached Te Anau last night overland from Milford. The American wapiti landed at Doubtful Sound in 1905 were found to be evidently increasing. The track from the head of George Sound to Te Anau was inspected. » The hut was found to be in ruins, the boat smashed and the bridges down. The Minister considers that it would be unwise to spend more money on this track. The track from Milf ord Sound to the Glade House was sotmd and in good order, and made excellent walking, while the accommodation was entirely satisfactory, so that any complaint from tourists is not likely to be heard again. Mr Matthews, i the chief forester, found three new plants on Balloon Peak, a handsome ranunculus, a fine olsaria, and an oral ophyllum.
