At the Trenifaam rifle range to-day the Wellington Defence Rifle Clubs' Association held its eighth annual ehooting meeting: Th» weather, from a marksman's standpoint, -was very unfavourable, a rear "fish-tail" wind prevailing throughout the day. There were fif'y-four entries, forty-two from rifle club 3 and twelve from the Volunteers. The grand aggregate prise was won by G. Halliday, ,of the Karori Rifle Club, with & total of 244 points. His club-mate, HL Marshall, 'was secdnd, with 240 points. The Kolapore Cup aggregate (all scores at ranges between 200 «nd 600 yd«) was won by" Corporal H. C. Jones, of the Post and Telegraph Rifles, with . 182 points in the senior competition, wMe in the tyro c'asß the aggregate pris© for tlioee ranges fell to Priv*te Routlcy, of .tfi« Hutt Valley Rifles, whose score was 168. The • silver cup, valued at 1550. ©resented by the licensed victuallers of "Wellington for the highest grand aggregate soored in the Karori *>nd Petone matches, wns won by C«rporal Jones, of the Port and Telegraph Riflefc. with an aggregate of 147 : points.
