AMUSEMENTS.
COLOSSEUM. There were again very good holiday attendances at the Colosseum yesterday afternoon and a last evening, and the Wide World Pictures were successfully shown. Thursday's new programme was repeated, alia won enthusiastic applause from the audience. The > pictures will be shown again this evening. . BOXING PICTURES. Biograph pictures were secured of the recent boxing match for the world's championship between Johnson and Burns and these will be produced at the Opera House under the management of Messrs John Fuller and Sons, 'the season commencing • on Thursday. The owners of the pictures would not sell them, but Messrs Fuller and Sons have secured the right to show them in New Zealand. The. season will be a> short one. The box plan will be opened at the Dresden on Monday morning. MR EDWARD REEVES. Mr Edward Reeves, a talented' Australian elocutionist and entertainer, is to give a series of recitals in thedhoral Hall, beginning on Tuesday, January 12. Dickens's " Christmas Carol/ Conan Doyle's "Exploits of Brigadier Gerard." and Ralph Connor's " Sky Pilot" will be among the eubjeots of Mr Reeves's recitals. His custom in Australia has been to give his recitals entirely from memory, and he has had great success. WAINONI PARK. The popularity of Wainoni Park was* again shown yesterday, when a very large gathering of, visitors waa entertained. The "star" item on the afternoon's programme was a selection of trumpet calls hy Mr W. Short, the King's Trumpeter, and an audience of nearly five thousand listened to him in the large arena. At the conclusion of his performance the National Anthem was siing to the accompaniment of the Coronation trumpet, and the singing was led by the Rev I. A. Bernstein. Three hearty cheers were given for Mr Short at the close of his items. "The Last Days of Pompeii " was given successfully, and the Pierrot concert and gymnastic display was very popular. To-day the programme will be repeated, and half-hour cars will run all day, with-«pecial fireworks cars from Cathedral Square at 7.15^ 7.40 and 8.10 p.m.
