BOWLING.

UNITED CLUB. The annual meeting of the United Bowling, Tennis and Croquet Club was held in the Pioneer Club's rooms last^ evening. About twenty-five members wexe present, and Mr E. J. Ross presided. ' « . The executive reported a most successful year, and after reviewing the results of the play stated that there was plenty of accommodation for many more bowling members than the club had. A winter green, provided at a small extra fee, had been used by about thirty bowlers of various clubs with much appreciation. The tennis j season had been keenly followed, and I the courts had not shown serious wear ; until well into February, though used j very consistently. The two new courts j had been found excellent at the close j of the season. The committee was re- - laying two courts, and the tennis members Were paying for the relaying of : two more, and six would thus be in fine order by the end of December. ■ The croquet season had been keenly j enjoyed. Financially the club was in a better position than last year; but < as the whole of the grounds must be ! gradually relaid it would be necessary to increase the revenue, and the committee recommended that members' subscriptions should be raised.
