August 6, 9.38 a.m.) HORSE PARADE. Despite bad weather, the Agricultural Society's annual horse parade was successful. The entries exceeded those of last year, and the display was of a high standard. In heavy Clydesdales Messrs Goffey and Murphy (New Zealand) won the first prize for mares with Princess, the second for stallions with Aparima Lad, and in the active farm classes, two firsts for the stallions Colonial and Agitator. (Received August 6, 9.45 a.m.) IRONWORKS TO. REOPEN. "- A small, mill at the Eskbank Ironworks has re-started, and the big mill will, be reopened next week. TRAINING OF OFFICERS. MELBOURNE, August 6. The Defence Department proposes to send militia officers to India for stated periods . for the purpose of military training.
