THE YEAR'S WORK. [Fitoai ' Our Correspondent.] WELLINGTON, August 4. The report of the Government Railways Superannuation Fund was laid upon the table of tho House of Representatives this afternoon. The balancesheet shows that members contribute! £4.5.669 to the fund during the year. Fines i mounted to £239 and interest to £5352. These amounts' added to the sum of £110,736 brought from la<=t year, show an aggregate sum of £161.997. \ I During the year superannuationXal- ' lowa noes amounting to £26,758 w\re : paid to 454 members of the railway j €erviop who have either voluntarily rdi signed or been retired as medically un\ ! fit. Allowances amounting to £379<ft were paid to 105 widows and 173 ehil- j Uren, and refunds amounting to £342

were paid to legal reprasentativai ot deceased members. The sum of £3610 was refunded tc> members concerned under provisions of the Act.
