[Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, August 4. The Municipal Conference to-day adopted, by 27 votes to 14, a motion by the St Hilda Borough Council " That the Municipal Corporations Act, 1900, Amendment Act, 1906, should be amended to enable each 'Council to prescribe such extent of open space and distance across as it may deem reasonable, subject to the express condition that such extent and distances shall not be less than the extent and distances prescribed ■by statute." ! On the motion of the Ne^v Plymouth' delegate it was decided that the laws relating to public health should be amended to make it obligatory that whore death occurs from a notifiable infectious disease such death shall be registered before burial takes place, and also that the laws relating to public health should be amended to make it obligatory for auctioneers and se-cond-hand dealors, before receiving bedding or clothing for sale, to require a declaration that such bedding has not been exposed to infection or has been properly disinfected.
