AN AMUSING INCIDENT. The visit- of the Prince of Wales to Canada recalls an amusing incident that occurred during one of his previous visits to the Dominion when he was a lieutenant in the Navy. His ship had put into port to coal, 'which, as all who have ever been aboard ship for very long are aware, is a very dirty and unpleasant occupation, in which every member of the ship's company, from the captain downwards, has to take his share. A colonial visitor of some importance liad occasion to call upon the ship while thie work was in full progress. The captain, desirous of showing him every honour, called a begrimed young officer, and asked him to show him round the ship, which the officer did, explaining everything of interest very minutely. As the visit concluded, the officer was called away, and another was asked to show the stranger off the boat.
