ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES

[Peb Press Association.] AUCKLAND, August 1. A waiter named James Robinson, after getting a friend to identify him, obtained a bottle of prussic acid from a chemist, stating that he wished to poison a dog. On reaching the street Robinson declared, in a dramatic fashion, that he was going to take the poison, uncorked the bottle and swallowed a portion, of the contents. His companion dashed the bottle out of his hand, when he fell down, and carried him to the nearest chemist's shop, where an emetic was administered. Robinson is now in the Hospital, a fatal result having been averted.

A man named W. J. Slaman, working in Mr C. E. Otley's timber yards, fell from a dray thig morning and broke his leg above the ankle. He was admitted to the Hospital.
