THE EMPIRE.
The plea of Queensland's Premier, speaking at Glasgow, for the closer political organisation of the Empire, calls attention to a question wherein we generally agree as to the necessity for "doing something," but are quite in the dark as tot what may actually be done. Mr Kidston urges that British ata teamen and people should " take the first, great step in the direction of giving a federal constitution to the Empire," but his own attitude is among fhe many indications, that is, from the self-governing colonies, that the movement must come. — " New Zealand Herald."
