On behalf of exporters Mr J. tV\ Taverner, Agent-General for Vietoruu conferred with the Italian Minister of Agriculture, and explained that woo{ was not allowed to land in Naples unless accompanied by an unreasonable certificate demanded by the Consul* General in Australia that it would hff carried to London, and thence shipped to Naples, and then landed only on 4 declaration that, the wool had not com^ in contact with anything contjagiousJ He urged that the Consul-Genera^ / should be instructed to accept the Aus^ tralian Government's inspectors' certifl-^ cate that the wool originated whero( there was no contagious disease. Thd. Minister admitted that the situation! as described seemed very strange, andj promised that unless there were special reasons he would certainly remedy tbt difficulty. ,
